Oxford City of Sanctuary
For being part of the compassionate uprising that is challenging our government’s shamefully inadequate response to the biggest humanitarian refugee crisis since the Second World War.
There are signs that the pressure is starting to work – but we need to keep it up…
We thought you would be interested to know about a few more ways to get involved in Oxford:
Three petitions to sign (if you haven’t already!) – and please keep sharing…
*There is already a scheme in place that should allow Oxford City Council to apply today to resettle some of the most vulnerable refugees from Syria – ask them to act now by adding your name here:http://chn.ge/1L7H1rM
*Please sign this petition if you agree that refugees should be welcome in Oxford(shire): https://you.38degrees.org.uk/p/refugeesoxford
*Please also sign here in support of a local woman, Judith, who is currently imprisoned in Yarl’s Wood Detention Centre under threat of deportation: http://chn.ge/1fZ8aUW
TODAY at 3pm (Sunday 6th September) outside the Sheldonian Theatre on Broad Street – to be heard loud and clear all the way to Downing Street: “Refugees are welcome here!”

The press are expecting hundreds, if not thousands. Let’s not disappoint them…
This local scheme links people willing to offer a spare room for free on a temporary basis (hosts) with destitute sanctuary seekers (guests). For more information on what this involves, how to become a host and how to refer guests see here: https://oxford.cityofsanctuary.org/host-oxford
